Important: AnyJunk Terms & conditions for Hippo Bag collections

  1. Flat loads only – Like Hippowaste, our Hippobag collection rates are for the removal and disposal of waste loaded up to the top edge of the Hippo bag. Additional charges apply if the bag is filled with waste above the top edge of the bag.
  2. Weight restrictions – Our Hippobag prices are subject to weight restrictions. The maximum weight we allow for a Midibag is 150kg, 250kg for a Megabag and 500kg for a Hipposkip. Additional charges may apply if weights exceed these weight limits. As a general rule, if you do not fill a bag more than a ¼ full with very heavy, dense materials like bricks, soil or rubble, the weight of the bag should be comfortably within our weight allowances.
  3. No hazardous or special waste – these Hippobag collection rates are for collection and disposal of general, non-hazardous waste only. Supplement charges apply for special items like mattresses, fridges, TVs and tyres. Do not use the bags to dispose of hazardous items such as asbestos, gas bottles, liquids, chemicals, clinical, food or toxic waste. If we find any of the above in your bag, any surcharges and liabilities will be passed onto you directly.

Hippo Bags – What are they?

A Hippo bag is a canvas bag used like a small skip. You buy the bags online from Hippowaste or from DIY stores and builders merchants. They come in three sizes – 1.0 cubic yard (midibag), 1.5 cubic yards (megabag) and 4.5 cubic yards (hipposkip). Once filled, you need to get it removed. Collection by Hippowaste is typically by a lorry using a crane attachment. For access issues the bag needs to be placed close to the road and clear of things like trees or overhead wires that might obstruct the operation of the crane. If you put a skip bag on a public highway or pavement, you need to arrange and pay extra for a skip permit from your local council.
