What is a mini-skip?

Mini skips are very small skips.  They are typically 2 or 4 cubic yards in volume.  Traditionally used to dispose of relatively small amounts of very heavy waste like rubble, soil, carpet tiles or tiles.
For example, retiling a bathroom or repaving a small yard. Mini skips have become steadily less popular because of their relative expense compared to other cheaper solutions like skip bags and man & van clearance.

How to check prices & book

To compare the price of hiring a mini-skip with an equivalent man & van collection, enter a postcode and click the red button.

Once you have decided on the option you prefer, you can book online by completing the form or calling our team on 0207 819 9000.  Please note on-road skips can only be ordered by phone.

Useful help for mini-skip hire

If you’ve never hired a skip, we recommend reading our Skip Hire Guide.  Also a few other guides you may find useful:

Bulky waste we remove

Man & Van is often cheaper than a mini skip

Skips and skip bags are best if you need to get rid of waste that is all very heavy and dense like rubble, soil, sawdust, or bricks.  However, if you also have more bulky waste to dispose of – for example kitchen cabinets, bulky appliances, partition wall, packaging and off-cuts – then it will often work out better value booking a man & van rubbish clearance instead.  Labour is included and we sweep up before we go, leaving your property clear of any waste and mess.

Top tip for disposal of messy waste

If you decide to order a man & van clearance rather than hire a skip and your waste is a bit messy (eg. rubble), then we recommend putting an old tarpaulin on the ground before you stack the waste on it.  This is particularly useful if you’re stacking it on your lawn or a gravel drive.

Remember to watch out for the rain though, because this can cause small amounts of waste to leak into the ground below!
