Waste Disposal in London During the Olympics

27 May 2012

London waste disposal is set for major disruptions during the Olympics and Paralympics.

Between 29th July 2012 and 9th September 2012 severe congestion and the classification of many of London’s roads as clearways (see https://www.getaheadofthegames.com/) will mean that a lot of waste collection will be undertaken between midnight and 6:00 am. In addition, a number of London councils are planning on limiting or suspending entirely the issue of permits for on-road skips during the Games.

Waste disposal contractors are putting in place shifts to operate throughout the night and contacting customers to ensure they are prepared for this challenging time, but I would be amazed if we didn’t see an awful lot of waste on the streets awaiting collection and also building and refurbishment projects grinding to a halt as the reality of such limited access to Central London takes effect.

Since we clear waste immediately we arrive, we expect our man and van waste disposal solution will be used quite a bit during the Olympics, particularly in London, in place of skips and other container solutions like Hippo bags. We will also be offering an out of hours waste collection service and you can find more details by contacting us.
